Transition?
Is there a specific point in life where a person moves from being young foolish and naive to being wise, seasoned and mature? What kinds of experiences move a person through this transition? How is it that some people never seem to make this transition?

There is not one specific points but a few points that make a difference are: being married for a year or two, having children for a year or two, and getting to know human nature by knowing the same group of people (church body?) for at least five years and seeing the unexpected sins and successes that reveal themselves. People never make the transition because they make observations on the world and interpret them in terms of their own experience rather than in terms of God's word, and thereby never actually learn anything because they are just repeating the same things in different ways.
ReplyDeleteI think anything that humbles moves us in that direction.
ReplyDeleteReeds,
ReplyDeleteTrue, but hard. Wouldn't it be nice if there were some other way. We trust in the wisdom of God.
