Hurry?

What percentage of the time is it actually beneficial to "hurry" people along (I especially have kids in mind)? Does it normally have a positive effect on the people you are hurrying? How about on yourself?

  1. it usually set a tone of frustration and disappointment. I have found that if I am hurring children along, it is because I have not given them enough time to begin with. Of course there are some children that just like to take there time. I used to try and give them more time by telling them they had to be ready 5 mins (or more) before they actually did. then I didnt feel as rushed.

  2. I like that 5 minute idea- I guess they have to be old enough to have some concept of time, etc? I know I do that when we are about to leave somewhere so they are prepared for being ripped away from the playground or whatever.

I with you in hurrying kids- it quickly breeds impatience in me because they aren't as fast as I, in my amazingness, am. Amazing how 5 minutes of time can become an idol.
